Nigeria: Attacks in Plateau State

Muslim extremists carried out new attacks on villages in Nigeria’s Plateau state in September, killing more than 100 Christians, including entire families, according to Compass Direct News.

On Sept. 10, 2011, Muslim extremists stormed Vwang Fwil village at 3 a.m., killing 13 Christians. Attackers killed 14 more Christians, including one pregnant woman, when they attacked the Christian community of Vwang Kogot on Sept. 9. And on Sept. 8, 10 Christians from one family were killed in an attack on Tsohom Foron village.

Compass Direct reports that some of the attackers were wearing Nigerian Army military uniforms. “What is the government doing about the soldiers?” asked Dachung Dagai, a pastor of a Nigerian church. “In some places, enough evidence has been found against these Muslim soldiers and nothing has been done. The government officials have always said they will look into the problems, but nothing has been done.”

In another attack, on Aug. 21, Muslim extremists entered Fadiya Bakut village and attacked Andre Allahmagani’s home. They killed his 10-year-old son and injured his 70-year-old mother. Allahmagani told Compass Direct News that the assailants were armed with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

“This is becoming too much to bear,” said Emmanuel Dachollom Loman, chairman of the Barkin Ladi Local Government Council. “The government should help us before Muslims come and wipe out all of us one day.”

According to Release International, the recent violence broke out after a number of Muslims moved into the largely Christian area to celebrate the Islamic religious festival Eid, which marks the end of Ramadan.

Please pray for Christians in Nigeria’s Plateau state as they continue to face daily dangers.

And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. “The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. “Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. “Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. “Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man’s brother I will require the life of man. “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man. “As for you, be fruitful and multiply; Populate the earth abundantly and multiply in it.”

This week, we begin to look at life after the Flood. The ark has come to rest in the area of Ararat. The earth has dried out and the inhabitants of the ark have disembarked. All air breathing, land-dwelling animals not on the ark have been obliterated. Now, those who have survived the global destruction have been tasked with replenishing the earth (including dinosaurs). Here, as we begin chapter 9, we see that Noah is given this same task. Like his ancestor Adam before him, Noah is told by God that he and his sons should be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. The eight humans that survived the Flood will be the ancestors of all of mankind after them. Each person on the planet today is related to one of the three sons of Noah. Design of the Week – Crossover – Baby on Board No Smoking

This week’s design is part of the Crossover series of blogs. The design is called “Baby on Board – No Smoking”. It portrays a simple message to those around a pregnant mother. The blue text encircles the mother’s tummy and politely asks smokers not to smoke around the pregnant mother and baby so that the health of both can be protected. It is also a reminder of how precious life is.

It has become commonplace for our country to allow the murder of unborn children under the guise of choice. Instead of killing them, we should be protecting them because they are precious in God’s eyes. On top of that, they are the future of our country and they have rights as citizens even if they aren’t born yet. The “No Smoking” design may be a simple design, but to me it speaks volumes…

Design of the Week – God At Work

October 22, 2008 at 6:30 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment
Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

God at Work is the featured design for this week. The design was inspired by Psalm 139:13-14 and the road signs that we see all over the place. When we see the road signs, we know that there is something going on. It is a work in progress and is not complete yet. The same holds true for what goes on during a pregnancy. Psalm 139:13-14 says that God weaves us together in our mother’s womb and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. It is something that is the beginning of a work in progress that could last as long as a hundred years.

The growth and development of a child is an amazing thing that we do not completely understand. It is something that begins with conception and continues for years. The number of things that have to take place for the baby to survive and grow is mind-boggling. If one of these things is missing, it could be lethal for the baby. It is truly a wonder of God to see a child grow and it is something that we need to protect and cherish.

If you are pregnant, you are part of something wonderful, regardless of the circumstances. The life in your body is a miracle of God and should be treated that way. There are many who would kill the child because it is an inconvenience to them. Truthfully, according to studies done, that is the main reason for abortion. It’s not because of health or financial burden, but because of inconvenience.

Please, if you are pregnant and the child that you carry is an inconvenience to you, don’t kill it by aborting it. Bear it out and have the child and then give it to one of the numerous families that will take it and love it.

Design of the Week Crossover – Fixin’ to have a kid

This week’s featured Crossover design is one by ~goatlady~. I’ll admit that when I first thought about goat designs, I was wondering how many designs you can make with goats (about 4 if you slice them real thin – ba dum bum pish). When I started looking through her shop, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did she have a large number of designs, but they are done very well!

The design that I’ve chosen to write about is one about the wonder of having children. It’s the “I’m fixin’ to have a kid of my own” shirt. There are a few reasons why I’ve chosen this design. One is because I’m living in the South (which makes me a “Dern Yankee”) and “fixin’ to” is a great phrase. You just don’t see it on all that many shirts. The second reason I chose this design is because I just liked it.

The font on the design echoes both the excitement and frustration of pregnancy. I’m guessing the font is called “Third trimester”… The image of the kid (that’s a baby goat…get it?) is also well done and must have taken a long time to do.

If you know someone who is “fixin’ to” have  a baby, then I would definitely recommend this shirt. If you don’t know anyone who is pregnant, then I would still check out ~goatlady~’s shop and I’m sure that you’ll find something that will suit your needs!

The Call

I have been praying about how to respond to this for about 3 weeks. It’s been three weeks since the Call took place in Nashville. On 7-7-07, 40 – 70,000 Christians (it depends on who you ask) met at LP field to pray and intercede for our nation. Those who went were of one mind and many of the attendants there had been fasting for forty days prior to arriving in Nashville. Those who led the Call said that it was to “turn the church and the nation away from immorality”.

I was there. I went up to Nashville on the fourth of July to help prepare for the Call. Some friends of mine and I were at LP field on the fourth to spread the gospel. I remember the people that I met that night. I was at LP field Thursday and Friday to help prepare the stage and the stadium for the service that took place on Saturday. I remember the people there too. I remember Pedro and Tom, who were two of the main people setting up the stage area. I remember leaving Million Dollar bills at every drive through.
