A few words from a “mindless lemming”

Like many other things, it seems that Christians and their beliefs are now to blame for the problems facing the urban school systems around the nation.

Mark Morford claims that evangelical Christians are “bad for the soul of this nation” and are the cause of the public school systems “churning out ignorant teens who are becoming ignorant adults”. He says that he believes “society will pay dearly, very soon.”

He goes on to reiterate that “hordes of easily terrified, mindless fundamentalist evangelical Christian lemmings have been bad for the soul of this country” and that it’s only the beginning.

It seems that Mr. Morford forgets that alot of what has happened in the public school systems is due to the fact that Christianity has all but been erased. He seems to forget that our founding fathers revered, respected, and built our nation on the tenets of the faith that he so easily bemoans as the cause of the problems. It seems that he forgets that it is this same foundation of Christianity that has allowed him the freedom to gripe and caterwaul about the state of our nation.

According to Morford, it is the “mindless lemmings” like myself, who believe that we are going to be accountable for what we do and say when we face a holy God that are allowing the schools and the nation to continually slide into moral oblivion. It people like me who believe in absolute truth and morality that are driving the nation closer to the edge. Last time I checked, it was Christianity and its tenets that are the saving grace of this nation. Like many others, he is ready to point the finger at someone else instead of thinking that his hateful diatribe might be part of the problem instead of part of the solution. Nevermind the decisions that are being made in favor of promoting homosexuality and sexual immorality to our kindergarten children. Nevermind that his own state is the poster child for moral decay in this country.

If Mr. Morford put half the energy into actually trying to fix the problem as he does in rabidly attacking Christians and pointing the blame, the urban school systems might be in better shape. Unfortunately, Mr. Morford seems to be too self-righteous and prideful to admit his part in the problems our nation faces. Obviously Mr. Morford has the answer for the failing school systems. Surely someone as profound as he, someone who could recognize scores and scores of lemmings for what they are has already handed in his well-thought-out solutions to the major problems and is just waiting for a response…

To be honest, it is people like Mr. Morford who are a good example of where this country truly is. The real solution to the problems our country faces, from an unstable financial market, to the health problems, to the growing education problems can be summed up in one sentence:

America needs to stop what it’s doing and do what God says!

If we want to see our kids grow up, we need to stop killing them in the womb. If we want to seem them be able to compete in a global market, we need to teach them the truth. If we want to see them stay out of jail and away from drugs and immorality, we need to show them the absolute truth and hold them accountable. Even if that means spanking them once in awhile. Our kids need a moral absolute and that can only be found in God. If we would stop killing babies through abortion, re-institute prayer in schools, stop allowing immorality and lawlessness to flood our airways and minds, then we would see a change in our nation. If our politicians and celebrities would actually stand up for what’s right instead of what’s popular, we would see a change in the moral fabric and Mr. Morford would have the America that he claims to long for.

Part of the blame falls on the church. If the church was actually holy and pure before God, and if they didn’t compromise their faith to pander to the world, and if they didn’t support the very things they claim to hate; well, the world might already have started changing….

If all you want to do is complain, you can do that here in America. It’s a free country. If you want to see change in this nation, it’s going to take us restoring the foundation that the nation was built on and forsaking the sinful ways that permeate the lives of Americans today….
